Talk Notes offers a comprehensive solution for recording, playback, and transcription of voice notes. It is particularly well-suited for various applications such as interviews, meetings, lectures, podcasts, and personal notes. Utilizing the Apple Speech recognition framework, it provides users with the capability to achieve high accuracy in transcription, contingent upon the quality of the audio input. The tool enhances productivity through efficient file management, seamless syncing across devices, and an organized interface.

Recording & Transcribing

Initiating a recording session is straightforward; one simply taps the microphone button on their device. Users can pause or resume recordings by long-pressing the microphone button. Importantly, there are no restrictions on recording duration, and enabled audio files will sync automatically with iCloud. Transcribing recordings is equally user-friendly—users only need to select the audio file and choose the transcription option. The text can be easily copied, edited, or annotated at any point during the process.

It is essential to note that although there is no overall time limitation for transcriptions within the app, certain constraints may apply based on language, device capabilities, and iOS version, occasionally restricting transcription length to one minute.

Preview & Organise

Accessing previous recordings is facilitated by the Files tab, which allows users to swiftly preview recordings from a list. The library can be navigated by date and time, and recordings can be renamed using a Mac. Advanced playback options include the ability to skip forward or backward, add and edit notes, generate transcriptions, and utilize sharing features—all by tapping on any file in the list.

Sharing Functionality

The app supports efficient sharing of audio files and notes via email or AirDrop to other supported devices. Users can also upload existing audio files from their devices for transcription purposes.

Audio Settings

Talk Notes accommodates various audio file formats including FLAC, Apple Lossless, M4A, WAV, and MP3. Users have the flexibility to adjust sample rates between 16kHz and 48kHz to manage file size while maintaining high quality.
